Talk that Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) has managed to fix one of its VLCCs to Brazilian giant Petrobras has proved to be wide of the mark.

New York-based OSG was in the hunt to do just that but ultimately was underbid by a competitor, chief executive Morten Arntzen acknowledged in an interview this week.

As TradeWinds reported earlier this month, Petrobras did pay around $19,875 per day for a two-year hire of the 309,000-dwt Amantea (built 2002) from Greece’s Lykiardopulo Group.
