NEPTUNE Orient Lines (NOL) confirmed today that it has wrapped up an order for its first ever VLCC newbuildings.
The Singapore owner says it has contracted two double-hulled VLCCs at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea, for delivery in 2002.
Market sources indicate the owner also has options for an additional vessels with the yard.
NOL says the new VLCCs will be joining the fleet of subsidiary American Eagle Tankers (AET), which currently operates a fleet of 18 modern Aframax tankers.
