Seven platform supply vessels (PSVs) in the North Sea have this week landed long-term contracts with Statoil, totalling more than 10,000 days of firm work, as Norway’s state-owned giant pushes its offshore fleet to use more battery power.
Specific contract values remain under wraps but market sources say the tender’s day rates reflect the sad state of the market — as rates are hovering around operational expenses (opex) for offshore shipowners.
