A blossoming of niche markets is expected to create demand for medium-size LNG transport that the current fleet and orderbook cannot presently meet.
Commercial observers say neither standard large LNG tonnage nor small carriers in the bunkering range will be a perfect fit for all power plants in regional markets, particularly in insular and riverine regions. Together with commodities players’ demand for flexibly sized spot-trading tonnage, that is expected to push up demand for ships in the mid-range.
