MSC Cruises has succeeded in buying the last remaining cruiseship in the failed Festival Cruises fleet.
The Swiss-Italian company has negotiated the purchase of the 1,550-passenger European Stars (built 2002).
No price has been given but the vessel went up for auction at a base price of EUR 220m ($270m).
It will join the MSC fleet in April 2005 under the name MSC Sinfonia .
