The Danish operator is understood to be paying around $38,500 per day to take the seven vessels of between 9,000 teu and 10,000 teu for periods of around five years.

That deal works out to be worth just short of $500m for all seven over the period.

Four of the vessels have been taken from Oceanbulk Containers, which is a joint venture between Oceanbulk Maritime and Oaktree Capital Management.
