PIRAEUS: The sale at auction of the 24,200-dwt chemical tanker New
Empress closes another chapter in the sad tale of the Karageorgis
group's fleet.
The 1971-built vessel attracted just USD 1.46m when it came under the
hammer in Rouen, where it had been under arrest since November 1996.
The auction followed the sale less than two weeks before of the
38,800-dwt bulk carrier Ponderosa (built 1975).
