Jahre 'was trying to send funds home' when he died

Anders Jahre, the Norwegian shipowner accused of tax fraud and hiding money overseas, was probably seeking ways to repatriate funds to Norway, according to those who knew him.

Odd Gleditsch Sr, the founder of coatings giant Jotun, was a friend of Jahre and both were natives of Sandefjord. His son, Odd Gleditsch Jr, who is now 88, told TradeWinds sister magazine TW+ in an interview: “I’m convinced that his [Jahre] intention, because he had no children, was to find a way to bring all his money back to Norway.
