The protection-and-indemnity (P&I) clubs set out to have a year without general increases but the word in the market is that shipowners are doing much better than this strategy suggests.
With a month to go to 20 February, reductions are reported to be rife, so it looks as though the great majority of owners will come out of the renewal with significant savings on P&I costs.
