One hundred new platform supply vessels (PSVs) are said to be completed but tied up at the quaysides of Chinese shipyards because of a payment stand-off between builders and scores of speculators.
Earlier broker estimates had put the number of Chinese PSVs seeking resale buyers in the range of about 30 ships.
A recent closer look at the Chinese sector revealed at least 100 PSVs were sitting in limbo, with the original contracting parties unable to take delivery because of a lack of financing.
