Newly elected International Maritime Organisation (IMO) secretary-general Lim Ki-Tack is being described as a “dark horse” who surprisingly won the leadership race on the back of the member states’ nervousness over candidates from the European Union (EU).
But as the dust settles a week on from his election, the industry is now holding out high hopes that he might be the man with the personal and political gravitas to make IMO regulation more effective.
