A 12-year-old panamax bulker has changed hands between two top-drawer Greek shipping companies at a firm price.

Menelaos Pangalos, managing director of Chios Navigation, confirms his company has paid $12.4m for the 75,000-dwt bulker Archon (built 2001) from Archipelago, the company linked to John Hadjipateras & Sons.

The Hitachi-built ship had been in the Archipelago fleet since it was new.

The sale leaves that company with two ships, the 81,000-dwt Archimedes and Archigetis (both built 2011), ordered at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea for $37m to $39m each in 2010.
