Shipyards and classification societies have been issued with a special handbook detailing procedures to be followed for gluing when installing membrane-type containment systems after the problems experienced on two LNG-carrier newbuildings.

The first version of "The Bonding Handbook" has just been sent out. It was prepared by containment system designers Gaztransport&Technigaz (GTT) in consultation with all GTT's licensees and class societies following the problems found onboard BG's 138,800-cbm Methane Kari Elin (built 2004) and the newbuilding Gaz de France Energy .
