The Sailors' Society's Loch Ness Challenge is now a mere month away — and fundraising efforts and training are in full swing.

Not one to turn up its nose at an adventure, TradeWinds has been doing its bit to raise some worthwhile funds, while event organiser Rebecca Bridgen and Bibby Line Group's Vicki Wyllie are topping the fundraising stakes for the 60-mile (96-kilometre) canoe expedition.

Participants — including TradeWinds London-based deputy chief subeditor Tom Lovejoy, who has been putting in the paddling hours for the event — are expecting to battle both physical and mental demons along the route, not to mention also needing to keep a weary eye out for "Nessie".

The loch, which every year draws thousands of tourists to its shores to catch a glimpse of the mythical creature, will form the centrepiece of the September event as the route follows the Great Glen Canoe Trail between Fort William and Inverness.

Bridgen said: "What a great way to end the summer in such a stunning location. We’ve still some places left and would be delighted to invite some new participants to the team helping fundraise for such a great cause."
