Eyes turn to US Gulf as new wave of liquefaction comes onstream

Shipping industry players are making more use of data to sharpen their commercial edge and the LNG sector is no exception.

But the advent of new US LNG volumes, which are free from destination clause restrictions, are set to complicate what was once a more predictable shipping picture.

US-based Ted Michael, a senior LNG analyst on natural gas with energy data and intelligence outfit Genscape, told TradeWinds: “Our big focus is going to be the Gulf of Mexico because we believe it is going to be an LNG shipping hub.”

Michael
