China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL), the liner arm of China Shipping Group (CSG), is the latest company to order 14,000-teu boxship newbuildings for deployment between Asia and the US East Coast (USEC) through the expanded Panama Canal.
It is understood to be close to signing for five firm post-panamaxes, with three options, at Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.
One well-placed source confirms the contract, adding that the yard is scheduled to deliver the newbuildings from late 2017.
