They have secured most of the remaining large charter-market ships in the 6,400-teu to 6,900-teu range, taking to more than 10 the number of fixtures in this sector since the start of the month.
Lines have raided the sector to fix four 6,700-teu Northern-M vessels in the fleet of Norddeutsche Reederei at rates slightly higher than last done.
The Northern Magnum and Northern Majestic (both built 2003) have been fixed to South Korean operator KMTC for eight to 10 months at $17,450 per day, say brokers.
