Greek tanker owner Chandris is building up its VLCC fleet with newbuildings. The shipowner is said to have signed up for two 320,000-dwt tankers at Samsung Heavy Industries.
Newbuilding brokers say Chandris is paying about $160m per ship. The company is slated to take delivery of one vessel at the end of 2011 and the other in early 2012.
Samsung officials were unavailable for comment as the company is closed for the summer holidays.
