Aspiring bridge officer Nicholine Tifuh Azirh found it hard to get a job in the industry after she graduated from the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra, Ghana, despite having two degrees, cadet experience and teaching at the institution.
That all changed when she met Celebrity Cruises president and chief executive Lisa Lutoff-Perlo while participating in the US Department of State-sponsored Mandela Washington Fellowship programme for young African leaders at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami.
