George Economou’s Cardiff group is making a strong play in aframax tankers, reportedly booking up to six 115,000-dwt units at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co.
Sources say four firm units are inked in for delivery within the first half of 2017 and that the order carries two options.
The ships are believed to be costing $46.5m each but Cardiff is understood to have the opportunity to coat the tanks at an additional $2m apiece.
