Dhaka-based Eastern Ocean Tankers is said to be currently scouting the secondhand market for two 45,000-dwt products tankers around 15 years old.
London-based VesselsValue.com puts the price of tankers in this range at around $8.5m.
Sources suggest they are likely to be deployed carrying imports from Southeast Asia. Eastern Ocean is currently negotiating with domestic customers for long-term contracts, sources say, adding that it currently charters in a couple of similar-size units to cover its shipping requirements.
