AT&T Corp last week sold its undersea cable-laying division, including
six ships, to Tyco International Ltd for USD 850m.
AT&T Submarine Systems Inc, based in Morristown, New Jersey, handed over
most of its operations to Tyco's Submarine Systems International (SSI),
based in Exeter, New Hampshire. AT&T now becomes an SSI customer,
although it is keeping its land-based facilities.
Tyco is a worldwide manufacturer of medical products, packaging
materials and electronic components.
