APL, the liner shipping arm of Singapore-based NOL, is pulling out of the Westbound Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement (WTSA).

The move leaves the WTSA with nine members from 1 September, when the withdrawal takes effect, according to a filing with the Federal Register in the US.

The reason for APL’s withdrawal is unclear. It is only the third line to voluntarily abandon the talking-shop in the past decade.
