A move into the marine-insurance market is planned by US insurance group AmTrust Financial, with top underwriter Peter Townsend recruited to lead the charge.
Townsend, one of the highest-profile hull underwriters, has resigned from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in London but it will be six months before he is contractually free to begin building the AmTrust account.
Senior colleague Lee Bright has also left the Swiss Re office in the iconic Gherkin building and is heading towards AmTrust.
