The owner has contracted two extra 158,000-dwt vessels at the South Korean yard to take its tally of long-range-three (LR3) tanker newbuildings to four.
The Kuwait-based owner’s latest pair come with a twist, as it has added ice-class capability to what was already a rare vessel type.
Only two similar trading vessels are in the world fleet, with Capital Product Partners’ 162,400-dwt Miltiadis (built 2006) the only one to sport ice-class capability.
