A mystery requirement for up to eight aframax tanker newbuildings worth over $430m has been circulated to yards, exciting market interest that an energy major may be making a play for cheap newbuilding tonnage in a market devoid of enquiry.
Newbuilding sources say big-name broker Clarksons is asking for offers on an exclusive basis on behalf of an unnamed client under the codename “Project Admiral”.
