The US Port of Long Beach has made a weak start to 2011 with total container throughput down nearly 4% on a year ago.
The port’s terminals handled a total of 456,424-teu in January, compared to the 474,960-teu seen in the corresponding month last year.
Loaded inbound containers were down 5.5% to 229,125-teu in a month which typically sees volumes rise in the lead up to the Lunar New Year.
