Ships have got bigger over the past 25 years. Well, up to a point. Boxships have got bulkier and bulker holds have got boxier, but the very biggest tankers have disappeared.
Containerships have put on the most bulk in the period TradeWinds has existed. At its launch, mega-boxships were puny 4,000-teu units, although Maersk was just planning its first 6,000-teu vessels.
