Insurance rates showed no sign of strengthening at the New Year hull renewals despite a recent run of casualties with the potential to produce sizeable claims.
The run of incidents over the last two weeks has also had no impact on reinsurance markets and it looks as if the protection-and-indemnity (P&I) clubs will even be able to announce the first reduction in three years in the cost of the world’s biggest reinsurance programme.
