US maritime communications company KVH Industries says it is the first to go to market with a single-antenna system that can switch between satellite, cellular and wifi network streams.
The KVH One Hybrid Network will comprise three sizes of antenna in the Tracnet range, from a 37cm dish for smaller vessels to 60cm and 90cm models for deepsea ships.
The system will automatically switch from one network to another depending on which is the cheapest or best quality where communications are congested or clarity is affected.
