Technology group Alfa Laval has carried out the first capture of CO2 emissions on a vessel using a scrubber but says further tests are needed before the system can be used commercially.
The company teamed up with Japan’s National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI) for the project.
Alfa Laval told TradeWinds that the shipowner and shipyard involved in the sea trials had chosen to remain confidential, but added that the test took place on a container vessel.
