Energy storage company Corvus has teamed up with car maker Toyota Motor to develop and produce hydrogen fuel-cell battery systems for ships in Norway.
The Bergen project has secured €5.2m ($6.2) in funding from Innovation Norway and also has the support of energy company Equinor, shipowners Norled and Wilh Wilhelmsen Holding, and others.
Corvus, which produces lithium-ion batteries for use in the marine industry, said the project is aiming to showcase its first marine fuel-cell product in 2023 and market the system from 2024.
