Refineries on the US Gulf Coast have braced for the cold, which could be good news for product tanker owners.

On Thursday, temperatures in Texas dipped below freezing after a cold blast blew through most of the central and southern US leaving 15,000 Texans without power, according to local news reports.

The freezing temperatures have reminded some in the market of last year’s deadly storm, known popularly as Winter Storm Uri, which boosted rates to 2021 highs.
