Things have gone quiet on the VLCC front after the tanker class fought back into the black from all-time low rates in late May.
The Baltic Exchange said things were “mostly flat” for VLCCs this week, with its time charter equivalent (TCE) rate assessment falling $3,071 from 19 August to $19,239 per day on Friday.
The assessment added nearly $50,000 from 31 May through 18 August, when it hit an all-time low of -$34,845 per day.
