VLCC spot chartering awoke from a holiday slumber Thursday but showed declining rates.
Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC), for example, chartered a Altomare-owned tanker for 10 WorldScale points below the last-done rate.
The charterer is taking the Greek shipowner’s 314,000-dwt Rene (built 2002) to Taiwan from the Middle East at WS 60, according to Tankers International.
Tankers International estimates the round-voyage time charter equivalent rate at $36,200 per day.
