A US built crude oil tanker set for scrapping in the Indian sub continent involves what is being described by demolition sources as a “hefty chunk of money.”
The 125,100-dwt Seakay Spirit has been sold on an “as is” basis Freeport, Bahamas for $382 per ldt.
But that does not include extra payment for around 2,000 tons of bunkers and the approximately $80 per ldt estimated cost of taking the 24,163 lwt US flag vessel to probably India or Pakistan.
