China's Unipec is giving some relief to the Middle East tanker market as the oil major starts fixing for its February loading programme.

Over the weekend, the world's largest spot tanker charterer fully fixed the 320,105-dwt Maran Thetis (built 2012) and the 318,757-dwt Kun Lun San (built 2011) at 2017 World Scale (WS) 55 and 58.5, respectively.

Those levels were better than last seen for the Middle East-Far East route, which was last assessed at WS 54 for 2017 flat rates.
