Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to pump up crude tanker rates.
Globally, the Baltic Dirty Tanker Index finished the week with massive back-to-back gains, adding 179 points on Thursday and 243 on Friday to finish at 1,147. That was the highest level since May 2020.
For ships lifting out of Russia — on the TD6 for voyages from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean and the TD17 for voyages across the Baltic Sea to the UK or continental Europe — rates made huge gains, as well.
