Greek shipowner Nikolas Tsakos will be safe at the next Intertanko meeting after Tsakos Energy Navigation scrapped its only veteran VLCC.
New York-listed TEN is selling the 301,000-dwt Millennium (built 1998) for demolition, it is believed.
The vessel was ordered by Tsakos back in the late 1990s and has traded in its fleet ever since.
