Thenamaris ups MR newbuilding tally at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

Greek shipowner Thenamaris has inked two MR tankers at South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), lifting its newbuilding tally there to four such vessels.

Shipbuilding sources said the company exercised an option to order the 50,000-dwt product carriers — worth about $36m apiece — after contracting two similar vessels at the yard last month.

The deal brings Thenamaris’ total spend on MR tankers at HMD to about $144m.
