Greek shipowner Evangelos Marinakis is said to be building up his fleet with up to six MR tanker newbuildings worth $216m.
Capital Maritime & Trading, Marinakis’ main privately owned shipping company, has signed a letter of intent with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for four 50,000-dwt product carriers, according to shipbuilding sources.
The deal includes options for two additional vessels.
