The orderbook for tanker newbuildings could start to grow from the end of 2023 to replace falling demand for boxships, according to shipbroker Braemar.
Booming freight rates during the pandemic saw containership owners seek to cash in, with 947 vessels currently on order at yards that also build tankers.
Boxship rates have been falling since August amid concerns over the state of the global economy.
