The master of an Italian MR tanker has been imprisoned in Cyprus for calls made last year to a "closed" port in the Turkish-controlled north of the island.
Larnaca district court heard that checks revealed the 50,000-dwt Red Garnet (built 2015) had entered Boyazi on 14 October and 12 December, the Cyprus News Agency reported.
The 60-year-old Romanian captain was jailed for a month for illegal entry, two days after he was arrested by Greek-Cypriot police at Vasilikos Power Station in Larnaca in the south.
