Suezmaxes have surged as of late on increased activity, but are tapped to cool in the coming days.

The Baltic Exchange’s suezmax time charter equivalent assessment jumped more than $6,500 over the last week, and more than $14,000 over the last nine days, to bring them above $78,200 per day on Friday.

“A week of firming rates in all western markets, but a quieter day this side of the Atlantic with a Greek holiday and plenty of fixing earlier in the week,” Howe Robinson Partners said in its weekly report.
