Stena Bulk has revealed a prototype design for an MR chemical tanker that can deliver 25% reductions of greenhouse gas emissions compared with conventional product carriers, and potentially up to 45%.
Company president and chief executive Erik Hanell told TradeWinds that although the design utilising Flettner rotors is currently just a concept, Stena Bulk believes it is possible to build the vessel now at a reasonable additional cost.
