Spot earnings for medium-range (MR) tankers fell more by mid-week with Texas coast shipping and refineries getting back to normal.
The Baltic Exchange's TC2 index for spot trans-Atlantic voyages settled at World Scale (WS) 145 for Wednesday. The 50,100-dwt BW Merlin (built 2015) was put on subjects at that level, according to market sources.
The triangulated spot rate for Atlantic basin MRs now stands at $10,000 per day, compared to a Harvey peak of $20,000 per day.
