A newly delivered Sovcomflot products carrier has been committed to a joint venture with leading commodity trader Glencore.
The 74,000-dwt SCF Alpine handed over by Hyundai Mipo to the Russian owner earlier this month is the first of five panamax tankers to be put into the joint venture.
The arrival of the SCF Alpine also marks Sovcomflot’s entry to the LR1 products sector, an area of the tanker market where the Moscow based owner has not previously been represented.
Sovcomflot tied up with Glencore last month when it indicated it would be carrying cargoes along the northern sea route from May 2011.
