Tanker scrapping is picking up as a raft of crude and product carriers prepare to hit the beaches of the Indian subcontinent.
Ship-recycling sources tell TradeWinds that owners of these older tankers are keen to take advantage of prices being offered by recyclers as the tanker markets face increased uncertainty caused by the crisis in Ukraine.
The two largest tankers reported sold for recycling this week are a pair of suezmaxes owned by Angola’s Sonangol.
