Japanese refiners and shipowners Showa Shell and Idemitsu Kosan are combining their VLCC fleets as they continue to pursue a full merger.
The companies said in a statement they will jointly operate their 20 big tankers for loadings after May.
They will share vessel positioning and swap ships between them as needed, they added.
The companies will also cooperate on procurement of bunker fuel.
