Gunfire has been reported after pirates boarded a tanker off West Africa on Monday night in what has been described as a kidnapping incident.
Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade — Gulf of Guinea, a cooperation centre run by the UK and French navies, reported the incident involving the unnamed ship 41 nautical miles (76 km) south-east of Santo Antonio, Sao Tome and Principe at 21:00 GMT.
